This is a story about
one golf shot.

Final round · 18th tee

454 yards.
Hard into the wind.

Dead against at 18mph — with 12 more cutting right to left.

A fairway 34 yards wide, falling seven feet, then climbing eight to the pin.

Driver — 253 yards, drifting left into the rough.

202 still to the flag.

What the standard stat said
−0.27
Below average

Scored against the database's average 454-yard hole — flat, calm, generous off the tee. A hole that exists nowhere. On that yardstick, rough at 253 reads as a mistake.

But the tee shot he faced
looked nothing like average.

A typical 454-yard hole costs 4.12 shots from the tee. This one — that day, into that wind — cost 4.27.

The same swing, measured properly
+0.33
Elite off the tee

Six-tenths of a stroke apart, on one swing. One number docks him for the weather. The other measures the golf.

Golf is the most variable sport on earth.
Basic statistics quietly ignore that.

Ten thousand data points, and almost all of it is noise. Most analysis averages the noise and calls it insight.

You've heard these

Numbers that sound
like insight.

“Seven of the last ten have gotten up and down from this bunker.”

Half of every “save” is really the putt, not the sand.

Take an 18-hole course where every bunker is dead average, and play ten shots from each. About three of the eighteen will come out at 7-of-10 or better — by pure chance.

The honest range behind 7-of-10 runs from 40% to 89%.

“He's averaging +0.3 on this hole across the eight times he's played it.”

A single hole's score naturally swings by about 0.6 shots.

So across just eight rounds, luck alone moves that average by ±0.43 — more than the +0.3 being quoted.

And par is the wrong baseline: into that wind, to those pins, +0.3 can beat the field.

Neither is a lie. Neither is information.

We built Signal to find
what's actually there.

Why it holds up

Deeper data. Harder science.
And years inside the ropes.

01 · Data

130+ variables, every shot

Lie, wind, slope, stance, green speed — the shot as it actually was, not a simplified version of it.

02 · Methods

Tested like science

The modelling standards of physics and finance. Every method is validated against what really happened — or dropped.

03 · Experience

Proven in team rooms

Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup weeks, tour practice grounds — analysis that answers real golf questions.

What that means in practice

The questions
we're built to answer.

You

“So — where is my game actually losing strokes?”

SignalHistorical analysis

We re-read every shot you've hit — seasons of them — against the conditions you actually faced. The true story of your performance, and the one thing worth fixing next.

You

“How do we take next week's course apart?”

SignalCourse strategy

You arrive with the course already mapped: a plan for every hole, built from your dispersions — target, club, and the evidence behind each call.

You

“And if the conditions flip on Sunday?”

SignalCourse simulation

We've already played it — thousands of times. Any pins, any wind, any firmness. The answer is ready before the question comes up.

Who we do it for

Players see their true game.
Teams make the right calls.
Organisations see the whole field.

Tour players and caddies · captains and team rooms · tours, federations and governing bodies. The same rigour at every level of the game.

“We got tired of watching brilliant players chase noise — practising the wrong thing because a lazy number told them to. So we started measuring the game the way it actually plays.
